Backsplash Installation

Kitchen backsplash installation

A backsplash protects the wall behind your counters and cooktop from splashes and grease, and it's often the first thing people notice in a kitchen. Vegas Flooring Outlet installs tile backsplashes under our Nevada C-20 tiling license, with the same crew that installs our tile floors.

Choosing backsplash tile

Our showroom carries porcelain and ceramic tile in a range of sizes, colors and finishes, and you can hold full samples next to your cabinet and countertop colors before you decide. A few things to think about:

  • Tile size and shape: small mosaics, herringbone and classic subway layouts add pattern; larger tiles mean fewer grout lines and a calmer wall.
  • Finish: glossy tile reflects light and brightens a kitchen. Las Vegas tap water is hard, so water spots show on dark glossy tile behind a sink; a matte or lighter finish hides them better.
  • Grout color: a matching grout lets the tile lead; a contrasting grout shows off the pattern.
  • Where it stops: most backsplashes run from the countertop to the underside of the upper cabinets, with taller tile behind the range or up to the hood as an option.

Visit our flooring showroom at 4039 Spring Mountain Rd, open Mon–Fri 8:30 AM–5:30 PM and Sat 8:30 AM–3:00 PM, or browse the tile collection first.

Backsplash and floor, planned together

Many Las Vegas kitchen projects pair a new backsplash with a new floor: tile, 100% waterproof SPC vinyl plank, or laminate. Doing both in one project means one measure, one estimate and one crew that coordinates the order of work, so the floor, the backsplash and the trim finish together. Ask about baseboards and quarter round at the same time.

Wall Tile Installation

Wall tile installation, beyond the kitchen

Tile isn't only for backsplashes. Our tile crew also installs interior wall tile across the Las Vegas Valley, from a single feature wall to a two-story entry like the one in this animation. It's built from a photo of a finished VFO job: stacked marble ledger strips set course by course, with a tiled arched niche. Every wall is measured first, so the layout lines up with windows, outlets, corners and trim.

  1. Accent walls

Entry, living room and stairway feature walls, including tall walls that need careful layout from the bottom course up.

  2. Fireplace surrounds

Tile or stacked stone around the firebox and up the chimney wall, finished cleanly at the mantel and edges.

  3. Niches

Recessed display niches tiled on the back, sides, top and sill, so the niche matches or contrasts with the wall.

  4. Wainscoting

Tile on the lower part of a wall, capped with a trim piece, in halls, dining rooms and mudrooms.

Tile Materials

Backsplash and wall tile materials

Most backsplashes and walls use one of these. See them side by side at the showroom before you choose.

Porcelain

Most durable
  • Dense and hard-wearing
  • Easy to wipe clean behind a cooktop
  • Marble, stone and wood looks
  • Large formats mean fewer grout lines

Ceramic

Budget friendly
  • Lighter and easier to cut
  • Classic subway and patterned tile
  • Wide range of colors and finishes
  • Lower cost per square foot

Natural stone

One of a kind
  • Real marble and stone veining
  • No two pieces exactly alike
  • Needs sealing to resist stains
  • Pairs well with stone countertops

Split-face ledger stone

Accent walls
  • Split-face strips with real depth
  • Made for accent walls and fireplaces
  • Catches light from above
  • The look of the VFO job shown above
Our Process

From tile choice to a finished wall

The same steps for a kitchen backsplash or a full accent wall.

  1. STEP 01

    Choose your tile

Compare full samples at the showroom against your cabinet, countertop and paint colors.

  2. STEP 02

    Free in-home measure

We measure the wall, plan the layout around outlets, windows and niches, and give you a written estimate. If old tile has to come off first, that's noted in the estimate.

  3. STEP 03

    Prep and set

The wall is cleaned and checked so the tile bonds, then the tile is set level, with cuts placed where they're least visible.

  4. STEP 04

    Grout, finish and walkthrough

Joints are grouted, edges and the countertop line are finished, and we clean up and walk through the wall with you.

What backsplash and wall tile cost

The price depends on the wall area, the tile you choose, the pattern, and how much cutting the layout needs around outlets, windows and niches. A tall accent wall also needs more setup than a kitchen backsplash. We measure in person and give you a written estimate before anything is scheduled. Financing is available for qualifying projects, subject to credit approval.
